Have you ever visited the Blessington Lakes and thought about how nice it would be to spend an afternoon playing golf here? Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort is a traditional Irish country hotel set against the beautiful backdrop of the Blessington Lakes and also has a championship golf course for you to enjoy.
The course was designed by renowned course architect Patrick J. Merrigan who has outdone himself creating our stunning championship golf course. Set across three peninsulas, the course gives you the perfect balance of challenge while still treating you to beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding area. Some of the features of the course include:
We host a huge number of events at our golf course every year; from corporate team building days out to charity and fundraising, we can cater to any requirements. One of the biggest and best events this year was the 2018 EuroPro Tour Irish Masters which took place over three consecutive days, 29-31st August. The event was televised by Sky Sports and we were delighted to play host to this excellent event that allowed us to showcase the beauty and quality of our course to 400 million people around the world. The 2018 EuroPro Tour Irish Masters has been hosted here for three consecutive years and will continue for a further two.
The conditions were ideal for this fantastic tournament which was hosted by our own Golf Tournament Professional, Simon Thornton. Simon started his golfing career in Royal County as an assistant club professional and has gone from strength to strength culminating in his first European Tour win at the Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open in France. In late 2017, Simon joined our golf team as tournament professional for the resort and since then has organised pro-ams, taken part in many tournaments and hosted coaching sessions and charity events.
The weekend ended with a well-deserved win from a young English golfer from Longridge Golf Club in Preston. Mark Young emerged victorious after a thrilling three-way playoff on the Friday against Ashley Mansell (Clevedon Golf Club) and Tomasz Anderson (Centurion Golf Club). After an exciting afternoon of record-breaking golf from many players, Mark has not only won the prestigious title of Champion, he also takes home first place prize of £10,000. Speaking after his win, Mark expressed his delight at winning such a prestigious award and complimented the ‘phenomenal condition of the grounds’.
We look forward to the next two years of hosting this fantastic tournament which gives many young male golfers a chance to compete on a European level and hopefully progress on to the highest level of world golf in the coming years.
