This week our European Tour-winning professional golfer, Simon Thornton, took on the very popular golf YouTuber at Tulfarris 18-hole Championship Golf Course. Peter Finch based in Manchester has one of the largest golf YouTube channels in the world. With over 500,00 subscribers and a total of 971,000 followers across all his social media channels, Finch offers free golf tips, golf drills, and advice on how players can improve their game, as well as playing with and interviewing Professional Golfers across the world.
Peter Finch is best known for his popular YouTube series, ‘YouTuber Vs Tour Pro’ where he travels across the United Kingdom and Ireland to take on Head Professional Golfers and put their skillset to the ultimate test in a head-to-head match. As the Tulfarris Golf Touring Professional Simon was delighted to accept Peter’s challenge. The stunning lakeside championship venue being the perfect place to host a challenge match of this magnitude. It was game-on between Peter and Simon!
The day of the match was clear, with blue skies, and it was exciting to hear the hum of support filling the fairways as a sizable number of spectators assembled to witness the two professionals do battle. In the video, Peter states, ‘We have a wonderful crowd here, probably one of the largest crowds we have had for this series, the course gives a 1980’s European Tour feel, what a great day we are having too.’
The spectators were not disappointed as both professionals put on a serious show throughout the match. Tulfarris was a fair test and Simon showed his knowledge of the venue and golfing pedigree allowing him to craft a score that Finch could not keep pace with. The match ultimately ended on the 13th hole.
Shaking hands with his component Finch says ‘Really well played Simon. Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Tulfarris and everyone who turned out today. I wish I could have given Simon a better game but there’s not much I could have done around that front line. Thank you, Ireland, you have been awesome. We will be back next year.’
