Fia Rua, our brand-new restaurant

Fia Rua, our brand-new restaurant

If you’re planning a trip to Tulfarris soon, you’re in a for a treat. Our in-house restaurant, formerly The Lime Tree, has just had a facelift! We’re delighted to unveil our new look hotel restaurant complete with a new stylish design, comfortable seating and the same excellent service as before. Here are some of the most exciting changed you can expect after our restaurant refurb.

Fia Rua

The first change you’ll notice is our name. The words Fia Rua, translated from Gaelic (Ireland’s native language) means red deer. This is a homage to the beautiful giant deer that roamed the land the hotel now stands on. The ancient Irish Elk (giant deer) was one of the largest species of deer ever to have lived. It is said to have weighed up to 1000lbs (71 stone) and had an antler width of four metres. If you’d like to see an example of one of these majestic creatures, there is a replica skeleton in Dublin’s Natural History Museum. Unfortunately, these beautiful animals were victims of the Ice Age and became extinct from Ireland around 10,500 years ago.

In Tulfarris we love to honour the past and pay homage to our local history where we can. That is why our bar and restaurant are both named after these gorgeous animals.

Our New Look Restaurant

We have given our restaurant a complete revamp completely redecorating and reworking the entire area to make it more comfortable and stylish for our guests. With the help of talented interior designer, Julie Goggin, the restaurant has been restyled to include stunning hand-cut Carrera marble, rich leather upholstery, solid hand-worked oak panelling, antique mirrors and feature brass shelving. We are especially fond of our feature lighting made up of hand blown glass bubbles by Venetian specialists Giopato and Coombes. Our new look restaurant has a distinctly elegant feel with the same excellent food as always.

Our Menus

As always, the food we offer to our guests and customers in Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort is second to none. We rely on local suppliers to provide us with the finest, locally-sourced ingredients which we then rework and present to you beautifully. Imagine fresh fish caught that morning off the coast in Howth, the freshest herbs grown in our garden, creamy cheese straight from the farm in Cork and freshly laid eggs from the farm up the road. Everything we use in our kitchen passes under the nose of our perfectionist chef so you can be sure every plate is of the highest quality.

We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in our stylish new restaurant, each of which has its own menu with delicious dishes for everyone. As a treat, perhaps to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or to treat a special person, why not enjoy a very special afternoon tea in Fia Rua. Afternoon tea comes on a three-tiered cake stand and includes a selection of gourmet sandwiches, freshly baked scones with preserves and mouth-watering savoury delights and sweet treats. Wash it down with as much tea and coffee as you’d like or to really indulge yourself, enjoy a glass of prosecco or something from our signature Tulfarris Tipples which are made in-house.

If you love to wash down your meal with a delicious glass of wine – and let’s face it, who doesn’t! – our wine list is also second to none. We offer a wide selection of wines from various vineyards around the world, from large scale suppliers to family operations. The Elk Bar also have a huge selection of beers, ciders and spirits, some of which we produce ourselves. You might even enjoy a bespoke cocktail made to your liking or a bar snack from our extensive menu. Our Signature Tulfarris Tipples are all distilled and brewed in house using ingredients we either grow or source locally. Ask our friendly bar staff for a recommendation based on your personal preference.
