Our Suggestions

Two Nights: Day 1

Check into Tulfarris, treat yourself to a light snack and a welcome drink in our Elk bar, where the team are on hand to welcome you.

It might be tempting to relax in your luxurious bedroom for the afternoon, but you should head out and explore the best of Wicklow. Take an afternoon trip to Russborough House our most prestigious local attraction, located just 10-minute drive from the hotel.

Russborough is regarded as one of Irelands most beautiful houses with magnificent views of the Blessington Lakes and Wicklow Mountains. It is the reputed to be the longest house in Ireland with a frontage measuring 700 feet and houses the Beit Art collection.

There is plenty to do for adults and children alike. From the excellent playground to a magical fairy island and maze, parkland walks and walled garden, artist’s studios and the National Bird of Prey Centre, outdoor activities with CP adventures. Not forgetting the incredible tour of the Russborough House itself, there is no better place to get out in the fresh air.

When you return to your home from home, spend your first evening enjoying the fabulous flavours in our Elk Bar. Everything from light snacks to hearty meals, the Elk Bar is a perfect place to enjoy a casual meal. When weather permits, enjoy the comfortable seating on our beautiful terrace, overlooking the 18th green and fairway, sipping your favourite tipple.

Remember to order your picnic from reception for tomorrow!

Two Nights: Day 2

Day 2

Start your first full day in Wicklow early with a hearty breakfast in our Fia Rua Restaurant. Hit the road early heading over to Glendalough for the days adventure.

By far one of Irelands most scenic and beautiful places to visit. The thing that draws visitors to the ‘Valley of the Two Lakes’ is its rich monastic history, the fascinating wildlife and of course the absolutely stunning scenery at every turn. The Glendalough Valley is located in the Wicklow Mountains National Park which has many scenic walks and trails, enough to fill a whole day. A lovely stroll or a 3 hour hike…..you choose!  It’s free to visit and only 30-minute drive from the hotel.

After a day of the great outdoors, return to Tulfarris to freshen up and join us for a gourmet dinner in our AA Rosette Fia Rua Restaurant. The pot roasted feather blade is a speciality and favourite among guests! Retire to the Elk Bar for a night cap.

Don’t forget to book and prepay your picnic for tomorrow with the reception team!

Two Nights: Last Day

Enjoy a leisurely last breakfast in The Fia Rua Restaurant, before you pack up your bags for the trip home. Before you leave Wicklow, it would be a shame not to enjoy the spectacular views that West Wicklow has to offer by taking a walk along the 6.5km Blessington Greenway. Don’t forget to collect your picnic, the scenery might be breath taking but 6.5km is hungry work!

The Blessington Greenway walk links the historic town of Blessington with the Palladian mansion at Russborough House. The trail starts 7km from the hotel at Russellstown just across from Russborough House. The walkway leads north along the shores of Blessington Lakes and through forest and natural woodland.  To enjoy the full Greenway and loop back to Russelltown it is a 10km walk, but the distance walked is entirely up to you. Along the way you will have the opportunity to enjoy your picnic and appreciate the magnificent scenery and wildlife.

If you have a more adventurous streak, our neighbours, The Avon operate Kayaking guided lake sessions, wall climbing, and ziplining, archery and air rifle shooting. It is advised to pre-book to avoid disappointment.  For bookings and enquiries: [email protected] or via phone 045 900 670.
