Tulfarris Hotel To Sponsor Pat Taaffe Chase at Punchestown Festival
Tulfarris Hotel and Golf Resort is the most recent sponsor to join the ranks for the upcoming Punchestown Irish National Hunt Festival April 20th to 24th. The Blessington based 4 star establishment will take over the sponsorship of the €50,000 Tulfarris Hotel and Golf Resort Pat Taaffe Handicap Steeplechase over 3 miles 1 furlong on the final day of the Festival, Saturday 24th April.
John Caffrey, Tulfarris General Manager commented on the sponsorship “It’s a pleasure for Tulfarris to be associated with the Punchestown Festival and we are looking forward to building a long and mutually beneficial relationship between these two high quality venues over the years to come”.
The benefits of the association are already evident as Tulfarris is almost fully booked for the Punchestown Festival week. Residents will receive complementary transfers to and from Punchestown and there will be a full schedule of entertainment after racing each evening.
On the announcement of the sponsorship Dick O’Sullivan, Punchestown General Manager said “Tulfarris Hotel is a very welcome addition to the Punchestown sponsorship line-up. It is great to receive local support of this level as it is mutually beneficial for all parties. The festival is really shaping up and the likes of Tulfarris in Blessington is an example of how the festivities spill over to local towns, villages and businesses”.
The local theme was at the forefront of the 2009 running of the Pat Taaffe Handicap Chase with all connections based within an 8 mile radius of Punchestown. The contest was won by the Curragh based Martin Brassil trained Ambobo and was ridden by Naas local Niall ‘Slippers’ Madden. Ballymore resident and Punchestown supporter Sean Mulryan was on hand to receive the winning owner’s prize for the race named in honour of a racing legend and Kildare native Pat Taaffe.
The Punchestown Festival takes place from Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th April. First race 3.40pm Tues – Fri, 2.30pm Saturday.
